Another interesting fact is that longest straight stretch is of length 478 km in Australia. It has no curves in this distance. The fastest train record is held by TGV, France. Its speed can reach an amazing 515 km per hour! When it was tested, it reached the figure 584 km per jour and as the brakes were applied to it, it came to a halt after covering 10 miles.
The largest station is Grand Central. It is located in New York and holds forty-four platforms. On the other hand, the longest station seat is 139 m in length and at Scarborough station. Also, from coal to electricity, trains have used many types of fuels during he course of their evolution.
